Where you locate your bed is as important as what you hope to grow. Vegetables require different times in the sun. At least six hours of sunlight each day and more, for many vegetables is good. However, spinach, lettuce, and other leafier style plants, will grow with less than six hours of sunlight, and/or shade throughout the day and typically grow slower. Some crops require the all-day sun to thrive.

Based on the hours of sunlight required, select a location for your bed(s) and establish what you want to grow.
