The washers should go on the inside of the bed when putting the panels together. The bolt goes on the outside and the washer and nut goes on the inside.
The 12-in-1 Olle Metal Garden Bed comes with 4 corner panels and 4 long panels, and 4 short panels, allowing for 12 different shapes and sizes.
12-in-1 Modular Configuration:
The open bottom metal garden beds allows for drainage. The plants will have access to nutrients at the surface soil level.
If you're placing your bed on pavements, concrete, tiles, or anything you don't want to stain, we recommend using a bed liner or geotextile fabric.
To use, place your raised bed in position, then place the fabric at the bottom of the bed from the inside.
Run excess fabric up each side and then fill your bed with soil. The fabric allows water to drain freely, but keeps soil from touching your surface.
Yes, it is designed to withstand freezing winter temperatures.
No. It is not necessary. Our garden beds are made of 24" gauge steel panels which is thicker than most of the garden beds out there. Through a weight distribution test, we have determined that our panels are able to hold the bed together firmly. It is also important that you tighten the bolts and nuts as much as possible for a better shape and sturdiness.
Materials & Safety
The stable frame construction of the Olle Metal Rasied Garden Bed is made of 24" gauge galvanized steel coated with Aluzinc which is a zinc-aluminum alloy. The bolts, nuts and washers on the other hand are made of stainless steel. These materials are rust-resistant and hardwearing even in harsh weather.
Olle Metal Raised Garden Beds are made of 24" gauge galvanized steel coated with Aluzinc, a zinc-aluminum alloy, which is durable in all weather conditions. The side panels are 0.6mm. That makes our metal garden beds solid and sturdy that lasts for many years.
Olle Metal Raised Garden Beds are made from 24" gauge galvanized steel, powder-coated with color and topped with Aluzinc, a zinc-aluminum alloy. These materials are safe and will not leach harmful substances into the soil.
No, they won't. The colored powder-coating with the Aluzinc reflects the heat from the Sun and protects the bed and everything within it from overheating in the summer. It also maintains a warm temperature for your soil in the winter. Olle metal raised garden beds outperforms standard wooden, concrete and plastic beds.
Not at all! It's true, most metal will heat in the sun. But damp soil is a miraculous cooling agent for the hot metal. As a general rule, your vegetable garden or flower planter won't become too hot, especially if you're watering consistently.
Because metal can conduct some heat, the soil which is immediately against the sides of the raised bed may be warmer than the center of the bed. This actually acts as a beneficial thing, especially in the spring. The soil in raised beds warms up more quickly than the ground does, enabling you to start that vegetable garden even earlier. Your young plants will appreciate the warmer soil on their roots!
In mild climates, a metal raised garden bed can help you to maintain a more consistent soil temperature year-round, provide good drainage of excess water, and more. The rigid, sturdy material will provide a good base for a cold frame over plants you're overwintering. And when using soaker hoses, these beds can maintain moisture extremely well.

assembly tips.
panels.
Start with corner panels (or a corner and a straight panel) on two ends, build them from the ends and connect them in the middle.
Combine two panels with the bolts, washers and nuts only at the top and bottom opening (in the middle opening as well for 32" Tall Garden Beds) of the panel. Tighten them loosely (hand-tight) and continue this process until you have your desired configuration.
Once you have the complete shape, put in the remaining bolts, washers and nuts.

Pinch the panels together at the top and start tightening the bolts from the top towards the bottom.
Use a ratchet/drill/closed-in wrench to quicken the process. The nuts are 10mm in diameter.
rubber safety stripping.
As you install the rubber safety stripping (edging), pull the strip to stretch it a little.
You can use the back of the wrench we provide or a screwdriver to slightly open the channel of the rubber stripping so it slips on more easily where the panels overlap. A hair dryer may also do the trick.
